    THE CHALLENGE

Residential complexes are typically meticulously designed, constructed, and maintained according to particular criteria. These criteria have been developed to produce energy-efficient and comfortable facilities. Our challenge was to improve this process using CFD as an analysis tool in optimizing the thermal and ventilation parameters of this residential complex.

OUR APPROACH

Our approach involved  establishing design criteria to ensure accurate and meaningful analysis. These criteria guided our CFD analysis/simulation and included Occupant Comfort Standards (according to established codes such as ASHRAE). We aligned our simulations according to these standards. We determined the boundary conditions, including outdoor weather data, occupancy profiles, and internal heat gains.A detailed 3D model of the building using Design software was then generated ensuring that the model included appropriate zoning for different areas with varying thermal comfort requirements. Our approach involved generating a  computational mesh on the building's geometry using the CFD software as well as application of appropriate boundary conditions to the CFD model and selection of appropriate turbulence models. Our methodology provided valuable insights into the TROGERSTRASSE Residential Complex thermal comfort performance and enabled informed design decisions to create comfortable indoor environments for occupants.

OUTCOME

1 Country, 1 Time Zone

1 CFD Analysis & Simulation Repor

Our 2019 collaboration with the TROGERSTRASSE Residential Complex was instrumental in providing a powerful approach to optimizing the complex design and HVAC systems and it played a crucial role in creating sustainable and comfortable indoor environments for its occupants.
